Ways to stay tidy

A tidy home is a happy home! Keeping a tidy home however, isn’t always one of the easiest tasks to accomplish. Here follows some tips in ways to stay tidy.

The most important thing that will help you with staying tidy is to put things away once you have finished with them, it may be easier to leave them until later. Leaving things until later allows for growth, growth of mess! This includes everything from dishes to paperwork, even jobs that you will be coming back to later in the day. You can always take it back out again later in the knowledge that your area is tidy. You should also tidy up mess and spillages as they happen and put away one thing before you start another.

If you find that you don’t have a place to put your things, that they do not have a home or that they seem to spill out of cupboards then you need to have a look into decluttering. This does not have to mean that you will be throwing out everything you own, but slimming down your possessions. You could also try to reorganise what you have / get more storage, you may find that by positioning things into different places in your room / home that it create more space.

Once you have found some space and tidiness within the home you need to get yourself into a routine, this can include a set of jobs in the morning like the washing up and putting on some laundry. Other jobs could include vacuuming every Saturday and ironing on Tuesdays. You could also choose to do everything everyday but for 15 to 20 minutes at a time. Once you have found a routine that works for you – stick to it!

Everyone has different ways that work for them, from to-do lists to made dashes of cleaning, you need to find what is right for you and be consistent. Your house will not tidy itself unfortunately so until then you hold the answer (and the hoover).
